Hey there! I’m Jake.

I started Opinioned because I want to see more original ideas in the media.

I spent five years building and editing Fortune magazine’s commentary section. I loved the work, but I was often frustrated by the monotony of the pitches I received.

Over time, I realized I could leverage my skills to help leaders unearth their most valuable insights and publish them as op-eds on trusted media platforms.

I got started in journalism after graduating from college, when I moved to Egypt for two years to cover the Arab Spring uprising for a local newspaper. Following that, I relocated to New York and worked in media relations for Foreign Affairs magazine and the Council on Foreign Relations.

I received the 2020 New York Press Club award for excellence in journalism in the magazine consumer reporting category for my Fortune investigation into the epidemic of laundry pod poisonings among young children.

I live in Jersey City, NJ. I love doing improv, eating good food and being a plant dad. I believe there’s nothing better than a slow, aimless walk.
